First let me explain what this "Non-verbal Communication" is.
This is actually the act of exchanging information through gestures and movements.
This is actually the act of exchanging information through gestures and movements.
Like a wink for example, it may mean a lot of things, it may mean that "its a secret", or "hi miss", or simply "ok".
These are the things that we should consider when having a non verbal conversation:
1) Posture- the person's stance.
2) Gestures- the person's body movement.
3) Clothing- what that person is wearing.
4) Engagement- the way that person interact through eye contact.
Moving on to the main topic, the 3 theories of non-verbal comm.

Moving on to the main topic, the 3 theories of non-verbal comm.
Based on what i have read on my professors lecture i think the 3 theories of non verbal communication are the following:
1)Proxemics
1)Proxemics
2)Semiotics
3)Kinesics
Proxemics, this is the distance of the sender and the receiver to each other.
Proxemics, this is the distance of the sender and the receiver to each other.
We would know the relation of two people from each other by just looking at their distance from each other.
Strangers talking to each other will never hug each other while introducing themselves.
Same goes with people who dislike each other.

We can also see if a couple are quarreling also based on their movements and distance from each other.
there are four types of distance: the intimate, personal, social, and public distance.
Intimate distance is the distance we have when we are with the person we love.
Personal distance is the distance we have when we are with our parents and close friends.
Social distance is our distance when interacting with our acquaintances.
Lastly is the public distance, this is the distance that we maintain when talking in front of a crowd.
Semiotics. hmm...
Semiotics is simply the study of signs.
When you see a sign like this what comes into your mind?
Yes that's right. Its says no Paying. Oh wait. That's wrong. Its says NO PARKING. The letter P stands for Parking and the Circle with a slash represents NO.
Its has no word in it but we know what the sign wants us to know.
Perhaps the most popular non-verbal sign is this.
Who on planet earth doesn't recognize this?
When did red mean stop?
Green is go?
And yellow Slow down?
Colors with meanings.
No words were put on it but we know what to do when the colors change.
We know that we must stop when the red light is on, atleast some of us do. :)
Yes the last theory.
Kinesics, to simplify, this means body language. Gestures, movements, facial expression, these are the so called "body movements".

Facial expressions, do you know the famous word that our parents always tells us?
"Makuha ka sa tingin."
It means that you should know that what you are doing is wrong.
We can know what a person feels by just looking at their expression.
Many messages are conveyed by our facial expression.
Gestures are commonly used in our everyday life even if you don't realize it.
How will you know if a guy is straight or not?
Through the way he speak? What if you encounter a mute guy? How can you tell?
That right. Body movement. Hand gestures, the way he walks, his eyes.
For example in this picture.
What do you think he's doing?
Its pretty obvious that he is copying from his seatmate just like how most of us do. :)
Thats it.
i guess that is all my ideas regarding the theories of non-verbal communication.

How you understand.
